Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project
Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project at Hissar is a coal based 2x600 MW project of Haryana Power Generation Corporation (HPGC). The project has been declared a mega project and Haryana and Delhi would be the main beneficiary States. Total cost of the project is around Rs.3800 crores. Reliance Energy bagged this project from HPGC on turnkey basis.

Welding of Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project is another success torey for Modi Arc Electrodes. The project was started in October, 2007. Before the start of the project we had started inter-action with the project authorities and the turnkey contractor. We already had approvals from HPGC and had supplied welding consumables successfully in the past to the projects of Reliance Energy, including their Yamunanagar project.

Sunil Hi-tech Engineering, a regular customer of Modi Arc has the sub-contract for the structural work. We have supplied them mild steel electrodes - Steelon Standard and Steelon Ultra, low hydrogen electrode - Modi 7018 and stainless steel electrodes -SS 308 and SS 309.

A Chinese company, NPCGC, is doing the chimney construction. We have supplied them

Modi COR confroming to the classification E -8018W2 as a single source supplier.

Contract for the boiler erection is with Petron Engineering, whom we have been supplying Modi 8018B2 and 9018B3 electrodes.

Apart from the fact that we have supplied a few hundred tonnes of electrodes for the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project, what is most satisfying for us is the continued high level of confidence that our regular clients like Sunil High-tech and Petrol Engineering have reposed in us. They are amongst a host of leading fabricators and project contractors who epend on us for our quality and timely service. We are greatly encouraged by the continued patronage by such leading companies.

The project is scheduled for commissioning in March 2010. We wish Haryana Power Generation Corporation and Reliance Energy successful commissioning in time. We also look forward to continue serving them in their future endeavours.

SS 310 Mo electrode is designed for welding and building up of parts of heat treatment and case hardening furnaces of cement kilns, and of burners subject to high temperature Ooxidation upto 1100 C. Molybdenum is added in weld deposit to improve high temperature creep properties. The weld deposit is fully austenitic & corrosion resistant. These electrodes are used for the welding of the clad side of 316, 316L and 317 clad steels.
Used extensively for the resurfacing of digesters in the paper industry.

A rutile type stainless steel electrode for welding of ASTM CF8M stainless steel castings. Electrode can also be used for welding wrought materials such as type 316 stainless when increased ferrite is desired beyond the attainable with E316 electrode.
Delta Ferrite : 5 FN minimum.

A rutile type stainless steel electrode which yields a nominal composition of 25Cr-12Ni-2.5Mo. Operates equally well on DC(+) or AC. Low spatter smooth bead and stable arc. Suitable for all conventional welding positions. Used for joining of similar composition stainless steels & joining of dissimilar steels such as stainless steels to mild steels. Also used for welding of clad side of AISI 309L-Mo grade stainless steels.

A seminar on our reclamation welding consumables was conducted at NTPC, Ramgundam Super Thermal Power Station on October 17, 2009, 60 Participants from different departments of TPC participated in the seminar.

The team of Modi Arc included Mr. Sanjiv Kumar Seth-Sr.Product Manager (Lomelt), Mr. Raghvendra Kulkarni - Application Executive and M/s Taj Enterprises, our authorized distributor at Ramgundam.

Mr. Sanjiv Seth gave the presentation on Company Profile, Reclamation Welding, Applications of Lomelt Products and success stories. Various queries of the participants were answered during the open session. Mr. Raghvendra Kulkarni gave 'votes of Thanks'. The participants appreciated the efforts of Modi Arc in organizing such a useful seminar and felt that this event will help in improving the skills of the participants.

We look forward to stronger business ties with NTPC -Ramgundam.

Aseminar on our conventional SMAW electrodes & GMAW/GTAW wires was conducted at IFFCO, Phulpur on December 22, 2009. 35 participants from different departments of IFFCO, Phulpur participated in the seminar.

The team from Modi Arc included Mr. M.B. Sharma-D.G.M. (Marketing), Mr. Sandeep Gupta-Product Manager (Conventional), Mr. Ashish Srivastava - Area Manager (Lucknow) & other field staff members from Lucknow region.

Mr. Ashish Srivastava briefed the participants about the company profile. Mr. Sandeep Gupta gave presentation on various conventional welding products of the company. Various queries of the participants were answered during the opening session. Feedback during the meeting with key persons of IFFCO management after the seminar was very positive & valuable.

This was the second seminar organised in a fertilizer plant after a similar seminar at NFL, Panipat some time back. We hope to get our various products standardized at fertilizer plants.

Our flux cored wire 71T1 was successfully tested at Era Systems at Umred through the sincere & persistent efforts of our field staff Mr. Parag Dev based at Nagpur.
Our newly designed & improved website ww.modielectrodes.com is launched. The website contains all the product literature in PDF format which can be downloaded.

WELD EXCEL introduces new welding machine model MODI ARC 220 for manual metal arc welding. This is a unique model in single phase with maximum output of 220 amps. It has been designed based on advanced IGBT Inverter technology. The size is very compact and easy to handle. It has precise digital display of welding current. Arc force control changes the ignition characteristics of electrode and makes it suitable for all position welding. Most suitable model for light & medium fabrication industry. Highly energy efficient and gives excellent weld quality with minimum distortion. Power consumption for this model is very less (approximately 5.5 KVA at max. rated output of 220 Amps) which is actually very less even compared to 200 amps mosfet based machines (usually power consumption in mosfet based 200 Amps machine is approximately 7.5 KVA). Thus, this is the most suitable model in single phase for light and medium fabrication industry.
